Legendary Juju musician Sunday Adegeye, famously known as King Sunny Ade, has released a video debunking viral claims that he is missing or kidnapped.
The 78-year-old artiste addressed the issue after his daughter, Damilola Adeniyi, publicly raised concerns about his safety and whereabouts. Damilola had taken to Instagram with a series of posts, alleging that her father may have been kidnapped and possibly under the undue influence of his manager.
In her posts, Damilola hinted at internal family tensions, suggesting that King Sunny Ade’s manager might be behind his supposed disappearance.
However, in a calm and reassuring video shared on social media, King Sunny Ade dismissed the kidnapping rumors and explained the situation.
“My children wanted to see me, they thought I was kidnapped after I went away for a few days to rest. But I thank God, I was not kidnapped and I didn’t kidnap myself.”
The music legend extended appreciation to his fans for their concern, affirming that he is safe and well.
Backing his statement, his manager and son, Dayo Adegeye, also issued a public clarification.
“There is no truth to the kidnapping rumor, and we are taking appropriate steps to address the situation and identify those responsible for spreading this false information.”
He assured the public of the artiste’s safety and well-being.
“The King of World Beats, King Sunny Ade, is not abducted or kidnapped by anyone.
The Adegeye family and King Sunny Ade’s team are working diligently to put an end to the rumour and protect his reputation.
The public can rest assured that King Sunny Ade is in good health and spirits, and his focus remains on his music and legacy.”
With the legend’s video statement and his team’s clarification, fans can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing that King Sunny Ade is alive, well, and enjoying a brief rest away from the public eye.
