Domestic Violence: 18 Year Old Housewife In Kano Arrested for Allegedly Slitting Husband’s Throat

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 18-year-old housewife Saidat Jibril in connection with the alleged murder of her husband, 30-year-old Salisu Idris, following a violent domestic dispute that occurred in the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2025.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the tragic incident took place around 12:35 a.m. at the couple’s residence in Farawa Quarters, Kano.

“The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a culpable homicide case,” the statement said.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, swiftly deployed a team of detectives to the scene.

The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where medical professionals confirmed him dead. Preliminary investigations suggest that Saidat allegedly used a sharp knife to slit her husband’s throat during the altercation.

She is currently being held in custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), under the Homicide Section, and is expected to be charged with culpable homicide.

CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy on violence and criminal acts, assuring the public of a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.

The police further urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious behavior to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines.
